Saka writes ...
"It’s an honour to get the chance once again to share my experience with you guys. Fondest memories of most international students is between sunrise and late night study sessions, daily activities like walks around the neighborhood or a quick stop for a cup of coffee with friends. The story is a different one for those of us who studied at the MEDWAY CAMPUS because our fondest memories came into play the moment we met fantastic LYNNE because she made Medway campus home away from home for us. She made us feel like we belong to the community with her variety of events; especially TABLEtalk, the WORLD CAFÉ, SUNDAY LUNCH and several TRIPS/TOURS. 

So I urge every inter-national student studying at Medway campus to please key into Lynne’s activities because she is the full package of a wonderful and delightful experience.

One of the best memories I had was our four day trip to Tewkesbury, Stratford-upon-Avon (birth place of William Shakespeare) and Oxford City. Fortunately for me, my birthday fell during the trip period and was really an amazing experience. The trip was the apex of my great exploit, from the surprised birthday cake, to the wonderful host families, to the mind blowing arrays of event and we got to even appreciate the serene country-side of the UK.  Stratford-upon-Avon was an antique and calm city that had both nature and tourists plus I think it is even very suitable for its atmosphere. The whole trip was breathtaking because there was no dull moment from start to finish. 

Immediately after my Master’s Degree, I returned to my home country Nigeria to take up a role as Transmission Engineer with one of the leading television stations in my country. My international experience studying in an interesting environment like Medway has helped me immensely in my career.

Lynne taught me to appreciate things beyond my academic life. So, I feel very blessed, ecstatic and thankful for all the opportunities she availed to me and my fellow international students. I miss all my friends back in the UK. I miss the carefree culture of Kent. I miss the newness that Lynne had to offer.

Thank you so much Lynne for the great adventures. I hope to experience more that is why I look forward to returning to the UK soonest for my Doctoral Degree."

World Cafe

Yesterday, at World Cafe, it all began very quietly ... then suddenly we had a full house :-)  Great to see so many students enjoying a break from their studies. We almost ran out of cake!!!!!

Bring & Share Lunch

Yesterday was our first Bring & Share Lunch of this academic year.  It was lovely to see new students, longer-term students, former students and, of course, some of our trusty World Cafe and TABLEtalk volunteers.


As always we had a lovely feast to enjoy together and most of us over-ate :-)

Thought for the week ...

TABLEtalk

Slowly, but surely new students are finding their way to TABLEtalk. So far this term we've had new students from India, Ecuador, Malaysia, China and even the UK :-)

After two weeks of themed discussions, based around 'Survival of the Fittest' and 'Culture Shock!', we had an evening of games.  Firstly, playing 'Have you ever ...' (we managed not to break any chairs) and then a Beetle Drive.
I always love the different beetle that get drawn, here are just a few.

On a personal note ...

It has been a full but wonderful weekend :-)

Early rise on Saturday and off to Arshad & Daria's wedding ... hurrah!!! We even arrived in time for a coffee, before heading off to the Town Hall.

It was a lovely, meaningful service and, for Pesila and I, a great privilege to be their witnesses.

 Then it was off for a yummy lunch at Zedel's Brasserie, in central London, followed by coffee and cake in the Sky Garden.

Finally, I drove 120 miles home to my Dad's place, in torrential rain :-(  Arriving about 8:30pm.

Sunday, was my great nephew's dedication service at Pershore Baptist Church, where my nephew, James, serves as minister, with Lydia and Jonah by his side. Always a good occasion to get together with family that I don't see often enough.

The remainder of Sunday was spent drinking coffee with Tony & Sarah, my brother and sis-in-law, visiting Sarah's mum, and enjoying an evening with Dad.

On Monday I got treated to a scrumptious English breakfast, visited Uncle's Bill's new home and then drove back to Kent  ...  once again, through torrential rain :-(
