Staying Safe on Social Media

 

If you are new to social media, here are a few helpful tips ...

1. Use a strong password, with a combination of numbers and letters, upper and lower case.

2. Use a different password for each of your social media accounts.

3. When setting up your security answers make them something only YOU know.

4. If you have social media apps on your phone, be sure to password protect your device.

5. Be cautious with friend requests. If you don't know the person DON'T accept them.

6. Exercise caution when clicking on links. Social media accounts are regularly hacked.

7. Be careful about what you share about yourself personally - both in text and photographs. Don't reveal personal information.

8. Be sure that you understand the privacy policies of social media sites and customise your setting accordingly.

9. Protect your computer with good antivirus software.
