Bring & Share @ Lynne's

Thank you so much Colette, Emeka, Jude, Laiba, Mercy, Nidhi, Sush, Vaish, Pauline and Jon for joining me in my home for a lovely Easter Sunday Bring & Share and Easter Egg hunt.

There food aplenty, and it was all totally scumptious.  After filling our bellies, we played a game, searched the house for 127 mini eggs and enjoyed dessert.

NOTE TO SELF:  Cranium is a ridiculously complicated game. Simply too many rules and, as usual, not international friendly ... simply too British 😫😫😫

Much to Pauline's dismay, we continued to persevere, and simply changed the rules we didn't like!

This is my expert team  -  Colette, Nidhi and I  -  and, may I humbly add  ...  the winning team 💖
Who discovered we had a knack for both the pictionary and charades elements of the game.  Can you take a guess at the drawings below ...

Colette's imitation of Winston Churchill was simple but very effective  ...  well done!  Personally, my only disappointment of the day was that no-one video'd my mime of 'bottom drawer'. You simply had to be there!!

PS  ...  I found four mini eggs today 😀

Pictionary answers:
1. sleeping bag
2. veggie burger (we were a fraction slow on this one)
3. toilet roll
4. boxer shorts
5. tandem

TABLEtalk - party time

Our TABLEtalk evenng last week was a mix of an Engish Night, with scones, jam & cream, and a little bit of heraldry.

It's always good to see students design their own shield, and hear what it says about them as a person, and about their values.

In addition though, we had a bit of a celebration for Pauline's birthday (I'm banned from writing the number!).

Many thanks to students who came early to help prepare and blow up many balloons 🎈🎈🎈  It was good to honour my friend of almost 40 years and a faithful volunteer at TABLEtalk for a LOT of years!!!

I would just like to add, that prior to our evening,
I play pool with Emeka.  Haven't played for a
looooooooonngg time, but guess what ...
I WON!!!

PLEASE NOTE, the extremely professional stance 😀

And here it is ...

Colour for Chocolate

Yesterday was our last of three Colour for Chocolate sessions in the Drill Hall Library.  I think word must have got round as our colouring table was mobbed 😵

We actually ran out of Easter Eggs, but students still came to colour 😀

In total, over the three sessions, we have given Easter Eggs to 54 students, two members of staff, and two very happy children of students 💖💖💖

A Super Special Sacred Space

Although our numbers for Sacred Space have been dwindling, it ALWAYS feeds my spirit and my soul to spend time with Adenike and Emeka 💖💖

Yesterday was extra special, because I didn't have to do ANYTHING 😀  No cooking, no preparation. All was organised for me and I was blessed with flowers and food.

Our activities were challenging, but fun ...

Firstly, we each had an object, found within the room, and had to preach a message for minimum one minute.  However, we didn't get to choose our object, another person did that, and we didn't get any thinking time!!  Our objects were: a remote control, an empty bowl, scrabble game, a vase of flowers, a wooden cross (thanks Emeka, you're so kind!) and a tape measure.

We talked about what character we might be in Scripture, and who we might aspire to be. Not as easy as it sounds.

We played Christian Charades, also a challenge, we could act and/or use a maximum of three words.  Hmmmm, we had things like the walls of Jericho, or Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego 😲

Watch the Video

Last, but by no means least, I was sent on a treasure hunt around my house (what a sneaky pair they are).  I had to follow the clues, and at each point there was a scrumptious treat.

The very last clue had me stumped ... the place where you can rock-a-bye-baby?  My immediate thoughts went to sleep, so upstairs I went, but no.  Finally, I realised it was the rocking chair I'd been sitting on all afternoon 😃😄😃😄  And there I found a beautiful gift ...

Sacred Space has only been running for two years and only has two more months to go; however, it has been the most marvellous highlight of my time as Campus Chaplain. On so many occasions we have laughed together, we've cried together, and we have learned so much from each other and been drawn deeper in our faith in Jesus. THANK YOU to all those who have been part of the beautiful community 💗💗💗
