About our Activities

Chaplaincy News ...

On a monthly basis we send out a news-sheet via email which contains information about all of the activities we organise, as well as other relevant university or local events of interest.
Further details (dates, times, locations, etc) of all the activities below are advertised through this mailing and through our Facebook page.

To sign up for this mailing, please contact Lynne on medwaycampuschaplain@gre.ac.uk

TABLEtalk ...

TABLEtalk has been created primarily, but not exclusively, for internationals.  These evenings provide a great opportunity for students & internationals to meet with other nationalities, to build friendships with some local people and, in the process (if needed) to practise their English.  Most evenings have a theme and are created to be fun and interactive.

TABLEtalk is not a formal English class but it provides a relaxed and fun environment in which to improve your day-to-day English level.

Each Thursday evening (starting Sept 29th) you will find us in the Oasis Lounge, Rochester building, Medway Campus.  The event runs from 7:30-9:30pm and we suggest you plan on attending the whole evening to benefit fully.

Sacred Space ...

Sacred Space is a monthly event specifically for Christian students.  We will meet (off campus) on the first Sunday of each month, share food together and study/discuss some aspect of the Bible.  For more information, please contact the Medway Campus Chaplain.

Bargain Corner Sales ...

Many students, especially internationals, arrive at university with few possessions such as bedding, kitchen items, warm clothing, etc.

Staff, local churches, former students donate good-quality, second-hand items which we then sell to students at minimal cost.  The funds raised go directly to supporting student activities, such as film and bowling evenings.  Sales are run throughout the year, especially at the very start of the academic year. However, you can come and ask for items needed any time.  Details of exact sale dates are advertised through our What's On ... email and via Facebook.

Please be aware that when you are leaving the UK we would gratefully receive back any items you're unable to take back home with you.

World Cafe ...

Our World Cafe has been running on the Medway campus for many years and is well attended by students.  It takes place in the Student Centre, Blake building every Wednesday (starting again from Sept 28th, 2022) from 12 noon to 2pm, and is open to ALL students at the Medway Campus.

This is a great time for you to take a bit of a break from your studies, to come along and relax, chat, play games, meet others and make new friends.

Each week the cafe is facilitated by various local church members under the covering of the Medway Campus Chaplain.

We provide tea, coffee, squash and yummy cakes and biscuits - all FREE of charge :-)

Occasionally we hold various cultural events at the cafe, including: Christmas, St George's Day, Chinese New Year, Norooz (Persian New Year), etc.  If you have any ideas regarding themes for the cafe, do please let us know.

Bring & Share Lunches ...

On occasion we hold Bring & Share Lunches off campus. These lunches provide a opportunity for students to showcase a dish from their home country. A great time to learn more about other cultures through a shared meal.  We especially like trying new foods and cultural dishes!!

To find out more, you need to register for our mailing.

Please be aware that:
1. There is no cost attached to taking part, though you are asked to bring something towards our feast together.
2. However, it is necessary for you to sign up and receive confirmation in advance.
3. You must inform us if you have any specific dietary restrictions as a result of allergies or for religious/cultures reasons.
4.  Lunches usually run from 1pm until 6pm approx.

Day Trips ...

The Medway Campus Chaplaincy runs five or six day trips throughout the academic year.  These trips are subsidised although there is a cost to students.

In past years we have visited Canterbury, Cambridge, Oxford, Dover Castle, Hever Castle, Hastings, Ramsgate/Broadstairs and Brighton.

Details are advertised through the monthly News-sheet, through Facebook, emails and posters around Campus.  These trips are always very popular with students; so if you see something advertised we suggest you buy your ticket as soon as possible!!!!
Our Day Trips will resume
once it is safe to do so.

Other Social Stuff ...
Please see our monthly Chaplaincy News-sheet, or follow us on Facebook, for information regarding other social events: ten-pin bowling, Bar-B-Ques, etc.
