Mental Health Awareness


DID YOU KNOW  ...  May 8th-14th is Mental Health Awareness Week.



** Build connections with people around you, such as family, friends and colleagues.                                    ** This can give you a strong support network when you are faced with challenges.                                    ** Looking for ways to connect? You may be interested in joining a student society, sports club or getting involved with other GK Unions activities.
** Medway Campus Chaplaincy also runs a variety of activities that you might enjoy.

** Try doing something nice for a friend or stranger. Volunteer or contribute to your local community. ** This can be rewarding and people that help others report higher levels of happiness.                                        ** It can also add more skills to your CV.

** Learn something about your friends, sign up for a course, re-discover an old interest.                      ** Learning can raise our self-esteem through the setting and achieveing of goals. It can also increase our social interaction, helping us to connect.

** Be aware of the present and savour the moment. Notice the worls around you and what you are feeling.                                                   ** This can help us to reflect on what is important to us and to make positive decisions.                                  ** Mindfulness can help you be in the present moment and focus on the experience you are having.

** Being active is great for our physical and mental well-being. It boosts our mood, gives us a sense of achievement and can build confidence.                                            ** Find an activity you enjoy, going to the gym is not the only option.        ** You can be part of a club, try a 'Let's Play' session or join Medway Park Sport Centre.
