On a personal note ...

It's a long time since I've included a 'personal note' entry here on our blog. Largely because I've not been anywhere much nor done anything too exciting for oh so long ðŸ˜žðŸ˜ž

BUT, as the song goes, 'times they are a-changing' and I've just had my first proper visitors since Christmas 2019.  My lovely brother and sis-in-law have just been to stay. The weather was super sunny and we packed a lot in to our few days together.

Tony & Sarah arrived mid-afternoon on Sunday, June 13th and early evening we took a nice walk across the Great Lines park close to where I live.

Monday was spent walking the sights of Rochester and enjoying tea and cake.

I was pleased to be able to visit the cathedral and see this beautiful Corona Quilt, dedicated to loved ones lost during this period.

The quilt measures 3.1 x 4.2 metres and contains the names of 88 people lost to Covid-19.

I had a meeting to attend mid-afternoon but l
ate afternoon we enjoyed playing boules in the garden (sorry Ang, we slaughtered the rules and did our own thing).

I thought Tony looked the part with his hat, but it didn't help him win.
The final score was:
Lynne  7      Sarah  8      Tony  6
We were going to play to 10 points, but were all too hungry to continue 😀

After dinner we had a lovely walk around the Historic Dockyard with Aiste & Basel.  It's such an interesting place to visit and highly recommended.

On Tuesday we drove to Sissinghurst Castle Gardens, which were so lovely. I have wanted to go there for some time, so it was great to finally make it. The flower gardens were in full bloom and these few photos quite simply don't do it justice.

Tony and I ventured up the tower and the views from the top were marvellous, even though it was slightly overcast.

Me and my bro 😀

From Sissinghurst we took a drive to Whitstable; famous for its oysters.
Wednesday was a super hot day and we walked the White Cliffs of Dover from Langdon Cliffs, above the ferry terminal, to South Foreland Lighthouse.  Sadly, the lighthouse was closed, so we were very pleased Tony had carried our picnic lunch.

There's a line dark line on the horizon - that's France.
In fact, Sarah's mobile phone network
told her she was in France!!

The final stop of our wee holiday was Deal, where we enjoyed ice cream and a walk along the promenade.

It had been very hot and we were all rather pooped, so we rounded our day off with a Chinese takeaway and a movie. What a great few days!!!  Thank you for coming, Tony & Sarah. Please come again 😀

My brother is a man of few words but, hey,
we got a 5⭐ rating!!
