I've been having a bit of a memory card malfunction (that's my camera memory card, not my brain); hence the delay in getting Petanque pics on the blog.

Who says I'm a sore loser ...

On a personal note ...

I just been back to Tewkesbury for a flying visit, sadly for the funeral of a friend there - Fran Baldwin.
Exactly one year previous Fran & Alan hosted myself and eight students (plus others) for a wonderful BBQ at their home.  What a great memory!!
It was a privilege to join with others in celebrating a life well lived.  For those of you who like to cook, here is a copy of Fran's Favourite Christmas Pudding :-)








Although it was a sad reason to travel, it was nice for me to see my family.  Dad and I got to have coffee together and enjoy a meal out  ...  here are some pics to make your mouth water  ... our Greek meze starter and my lamb kleftiko :-)  Truly scrumptious!!

 

Great to spend some time with my brother and sis-in-law, and my nephew and family. We spent Saturday morning at Overbury annual village fete where Lydia and I tried our hand at pottery.

 

 

 And, of course, I got to see my wonderful great-nephew, Jonah.

Lynne's thought for the day

For those of my generation who do not really comprehend why Facebook  exists ...

Presently, I am trying to make friends outside of Facebook while applying the same principles.

Every day, I go down the street and tell passersby what I have eaten, how I feel, what I did the night before, as well as what I plan to do.   I freely spout my political and religious thoughts without any regard to theirs.  I give them pictures of my family, my friends, my dog, my vacations, my garden and me spending time by the pool. I also listen to their conversations and I tell them I love them.

And it works!  

I already have 3 people following me: 2 police officers and a psychiatrist.  

Let Loose

What a great time yesterday at our Let Loose event at St Mark's.








This mammoth event included music from Audrey start the Revolution.








Scott Nicol from Prestwick (Scotland) and our very own Mayowa who had put a mammoth amount of work into the entire event.











I had the pleasure of being Master of Ceremonies and took advantage of the opportunity to wear my Ugandan outfit.



A children's choir from Brompton Westbrooke Primary school also made an appearance ...

As did His Majesty's Gospel Choir and the Salvation Army Band & Choir.

It was an exciting, vibrant, loud and colourful event with lots of dancing and audience participation ...

A HUGE number of people were involved in the event ... singers, musicians, dancers, sound and A/V technicians, decorators, home-bakers, tea-ladies and, last but by no means least, cleaner-uppers ... THANK YOU!!!

Nepal update

A brief note to give an update on all the fundraising that happened on campus following the earthquakes in Nepal.  A total of £820.26 was sent via GMIN (Grassroots Movement in Nepal), plus £379.74 sent to We Love Nepal.  Once again we thank all those who gave so generously.

PLEASE continue to pray for the people of Nepal.  Other news items soon begin to take the headlines, but it will be many, many months before the nation of Nepal is back on it's feet.
