On a personal note ...

From left to right:
Katy with Jonah, Abraham, Zipporah, Zephaniah & Saju

On Saturday, April 28th, we welcomed
our new minister at St Mark's.
It was a wonderful service and we trust
they all feel a welcome part of our church
and community family very soon.
A BIG THANK YOU to Lynne Spencer
who came and welcomed Saju on behalf
of the University of Greenwich.

PS.  Saju's full name is - Varghese Muthalaly Malayil Lukose - thank goodness we can shorten it to Saju :-)

A BIG THANK YOU also goes to the many many people who helped make the day happen ... my thanks especially to those who produces enough cakes to feed the 5,000!!!

Martial Arts Fair

I was sure Jonny said it was a 'marital arts fair' (lol)
but no, I've spent today running our World Cafe
at a Martial Arts Fair in aid of Help for Heroes.

It was a fun event, I got a free massage,
and I think I've found a new hobby  ...
if you click on the first photo and then move through them quickly
I'm sure you'll be amazed at just how nimble I am :-)

A MASSIVE THANK YOU to Mohammad Sharsheer who helped me all day; and to Aiste who came along later.
Mohammad's new words for the day are: 'margarine' and 'dregs'
and a new idiom 'don't short change people'.

Over £350 was raised on the day and this is being matched by Barclays ... so well done to Jonny Wong and his team!!

Diversity Fair

For one day only our World Cafe
moved location from Blake building to Pilkington building
to serve Tea & Scones at the annual Diversity Fair
We serve approximately 130 people :-)

I didn't get much time to explore all the other stands, although I did visit Mysah from ISOC (Islamic Society) to try on a Hajib - which was extremely comfortable :-)

I also had the privilege of being a judge for a variety of performances, many of which were excellent.
The winning performance was a dance act from
the Afro-Caribbean Society.

Cambridge Trip

On Saturday, March 14th '15 we took three coaches
of University of Greenwich students to visit
the beautiful city of Cambridge.
We received good feedback after the trip.
Many of the students enjoy the history of Cambridge
and the amazing buildings ...

Despite the rather brisk weather
a good number of students went punting ...

Cambridge really is a beautiful city
with much to explore ...

All in all, it was a great day out ...

The End ...
