GAIA @ Rochester Cathedral

It was good to get together with students and friends last night to go and see the GAIA art installation at Rochester Cathedral. This display raised awareness of global warming and the increased need for more sustainability.

Wanting to prove my immense strength ...

The rotating earth was accompanied by music and dialogue.

We rounded off our evening in Quills, enjoying a hot drink.

Thanks everyone ðŸ˜€

Chaplaincy News - June 2022

DID YOU KNOW that last month I celebrated five years as Medway Campus Chaplain!!!  Sooooooo many students from around the globe, so many great memories.  Times of laughter and times of tears. Take a look at our blog post: Five Years ago Today

At the very start of May we also recognised Stress Awareness Wekk on our Blog, the theme of which was 'loneliness'.  Loneliness is something that can affect us all from time to time and for some may be a debilitating reality.  This month, Loneliness Awareness Week will take place between June 13th-17th.

If Loneliness is something that affects your life and your well-being, please, please find someone to talk to.  There are many avenues of help and support on campus, Chaplaincy being just one of them.

You may like to take a look at our recent Blog post in relation to loneliness and stress; this includes a link to one of our Take Ten reflections:  Loneliness & Stress

Blessings, Lynne

June is LGBTQ+ PRIDE month

Whatever your sexual identity, I am celebrating with you this month.  You are deeply loved by God.

At a recent conference I was asked to make myself out of Lego. Whilst I'm not sure the clothes represent me well, the frying pan and banana depict my heart for hospitality.

A  VERY BIG

CONGRATULATIONS

to all those students who are graduating this summer. I look forward to celebrating with you.

Lesnes Abbey Picnic

I thoroughly enjoyed our picnic and walk at Lesnes Abbey yesterday. Thanks to all who came and thanks, as always, to Kirsten for her hosting and tour guide skills.

It was especially good to explore a new part of the ancient woodlands and to search for fairy houses ...

I look forward to many more visits 😀

Thought for the week ...

Cathedral's Conference

I have just returned from a few days away at a Cathedral's Conference. This is an annual gathering of Chaplains from the 15 cathedral-founded universities around the UK, representing the education of some 110,000 students each year.  As well as an excellent opportunity to network with other chaplains, we also spent time with the VCs of each university talking about the role of Chaplaincy as we more forward, post covid.

At the very start of our time together we were all invited to make ourselves out of lego. I did a bit of complaining because none of the clothing seemed to match anything I would actually wear. But I felt happier after arming myself with a frying pan and a banana, to represent my heart for hospitality 😀

Our few days involved lots of lovely food, much laughter and the opportunity to worship together and share ideas.

I think we need one of these
at the Medway Campus!!!

Congratulations Pad

One of the very best parts of my role as Campus Chaplain is seeing students graduate, especially those who, I know, have walked a tough path during their studies.

In fact, I think any student graduating now, after all the challenges of Covid and the disruption it brought to their studies, should be especially proud of themselves.

Pad, it was soooooooo wonderful to see you again and spend time with you and your parents. You have grown in to a lovely mature and confident young lady, with a radiant smile. Thank you for letting me share part of your life and this very special day.
