Faith Space opening

Our new multi-faith FAITH SPACE at the Medway Campus is open for use from 8am on Monday, May 8th 2017  ...  this is an historic day :-)

Much discussion has taken place over the past four months in preparation for this moment. The weekly schedule we've set in place allows for some times that are 'faith specific' when different groups can practice their faith as they require; however, the vast majority of time the space will be open for anyone and everyone to come and pray, meditate, read their Bible, etc. All in a manner that is gracious and respectful of other users.

We held two open times on May 4th & 5th and received really positive and encouraging feedback. Here are some of the comments people left ...

"It's a great initiative creating cultural awareness."

"Looks so good, really looking forward to using the space."

"Lovely, welcoming space."

"Thank you for the beautiful room. It looks great! I can't wait to use it for my meditation."

"Well thought out. Well planned. Well done."

"What a great environment, open and inviting. An awesome benefit for students and staff."

"Looks absolutely amazing! Well done all!"

"Looks brilliant. Just what Medway campus needs."

"Great idea. May it be a place of peace for all people."

"Very beautiful, spacious and impressive. It's very good that the university is doing something good for religious people."

"Will be much appreciated by those who come to this place, find peace and try to use the inspiration to make the world a better place to live."

Medway Campus Faith Space

What is Heraldry?

Heraldry is the way in which families and knights could be identified through the use of symbols and signs, either on banners, shields or seals. By creating crests and coats of arms warriors could be identified on the battlefield when encased in armour and people could be seen as part of a family.
It is a colourful way of identification full of meaning which has evolved over hundreds of years and is still used today.
It was not only the symbols themselves that indicated particular traits but the colours as well. For example, a lion stood for courage and a lamb meant peace and patience. A tree was a symbol of strength; a rose meant hope or joy. The colour gold or yellow stood for generosity and blue for loyalty and truth.

Here are some of the crests the students designed ...

Easter Sunday

My house is very topsy-turvy with packing boxes everywhere; so it was a very small group for Easter Sunday.
Good job I didn't have feeding of the 5,000 because my cooker was kaput :-(  The CO2 reading was so high it's been condemned and I praise God that I'm not brown-bread (dead)!!!
