On a personal note ...

What is prayer to you?
Is it stillness?  Is it a cry for help in a moment of stress?
Is it familiar words known by heart?
Is it submission?  Is it relationship?
Or is it something of the unknown?

This past week St Mark's church and St Mary's Island church have come together for a 24/7 Prayer Encounter.  What does that mean?  It means that from 12noon on Sunday, Sept 1st until 12noon on Sunday, Sept 8th, around the clock, for 168 hours people have gathered in church to pray.  To pray for each other, to pray for our community, our nation and our world and, yes, to pray for ourselves.

We believe in a creative God and therefore believe in creative ways to pray.  This week has involved music, art, the reading of God's Word, walking the community, quiet meditation, etc. Here are the seven Prayer Stations we set up around the church ...

be quiet, listen to music, etc.
