Hever Castle

Our trip to Hever Castle and Gardens yesterday went really well.  We were a smaller group than I had hoped but, in some respects this was really nice because it allowed everyone to get to know each other more.  Everyone mixed and mingled really well.

Hever Castle is steeped in history. The beautiful double-moated 13th century castle was once the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, second wife of Henry VIII and Mother of Elizabeth.

LtoR:  Sona (Slovakia), Michel & Mohamed (Egypt),
Jerminah (Lesotho), Nornita (Malaysia), Me,

Kishan (Nepal), Humphrey (Zambia),
Nattaporn (Thailand) and Souad (Lebanon)
I really worried I've not got Nornita & Nattaporn the right way around?!
The gardens surrounding the castle are really beautiful and there are lots of lovely places just to sit and enjoy the surroundings

We hired two rowing boats and all spent a fabulous hour on the lake.  Two people rowing in unison seemed to be a bit of a challenge in our boat :-)

The main event of the day was the medieval jousting event. Almost an hour long event, which is always good fun  ...  but yesterday, it was oh so HOT!!

Finally, there was a bit of extra time to try archery and explore the water maze.
