TABLEtalk - Food & Games

Another fab get together with our TABLEtalk family. We enjoyed chicken green thai curry, veg pad thai, and veg drunken noodles (chicken drunken noodles is my go to dish!) with rice from the Pad Thai Live! in the Chatham Dockside Outlet.  The food was excellent and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.

The remainder of our evening was spent chilling out with various games. Such a nice way to spend a Thursday evening 😀😀

We continue to be grateful to the University of Kent for the use of the lovely Oasis Lounge, in the Medway building!!

Picnic & Walk at Lesnes Abbey Woods

Lesnes Abbey is such a lovely place to take students, especially when the weather is so favourable.

Fourteen adults and four children travelled from Gillingham to Lesnes Abbey, where we met, and were hosted by, my friend and colleague, Kirsten.

After our brief history lesson, some walked around the Abbey ruins, some went for coffee and, some waited with all the bags for our enjoyable picnic together.  There was soooooo much food  ...  Nigerian, Sri Lankan, and the predictable English fare.  Lots of sharing and tasting, and making our bags lighter for our walk through the woods.

We managed not to lose
anyone in the woods,
though it was a close call 😟

Our time ended in a fabulous playground where, strangely, I only seem to have photos of adults enjoying themselves 😃😃😃  There was also ice cream 🍦🍦🍦

A really BIG THANK YOU to everyone who joined us for the day, especially Kirsten. Really hope you enjoyed it as much as I did 😀

Another successful bowling trip!

All my regular faithfuls came bowling ... Chanaka, Joshua, Jon, etc; plus a few newbies, Emeka & Adenike, who claimed to have bowled only once before or never (it apparently doesn't rate as a pastime in Nigeria).

This is a face of despair
during our second game ...

Followed by a spot of advice from the resident expert 😏

BUT, look what Adenike acheived in game one!!!
She lulled Chanaka and Chehan into a false sense of
security and, at the very last minute, romped in to
the GOLD MEDAL position 🥇

Greenwich Graduations

Seeing students graduate is one of my very favourite things. On occasion there's a student who, I know, has been through immense challenge to get to this point and the sense of achievement is palpable.

So I want to say a

HUGE CONGRATULATIONS

to all who graduated this week, especially:

Elroy, Rohit, Chi, Mustafa, Nonso, Jerinsen, Veron, Alfred, Tendai, Emeka, Faiqa, Deeksha and Harjot.

Plus Katie James and Immaculate Mwangangi who received their PhD certificates, after much hard work!

Special congratulations go to Chi An Li, who has been awarded a full scholarship to do a PhD at the University of Adelaide. Chi, we pray for safe travels for you, for new friendships, and we look forward to hearing about all your new adventures.

I was super excited to hear that Faiqa has been accepted for a PhD, here at the University of Greenwich, and that I will continue to see her beautiful face and be on the receiving end of a warm hug!!

Each year the universites award several honorary doctorates, and this year, one of those people, was the iconic fashion designer Dame Zandra Rhodes. I was just a tad disappointed that we didn't get to hear from her personally 😕

Once again

If I have missed your name, or you would like me to include a photo, do let me know.
