I have just returned from 12 wonderful days in Tunisia. Had a good flight over (for someone who actually doesn't enjoy flying) with some great views of the Italian Alps, etc on route.
I stayed in the Tej Marhaba Hotel in Sousse (about 40 minutes from Enfidha airport) ... it was very pleasant
Did several trips though, visited the medina (the 'old city') in Sousse, a maze of tiny cobbled streets where you can buy everything from pots & pans to spices and shoes ...

Another day I went to see the ruins at Carthage, a small town called Sidi Bou Said, and Tunis.
Carthage was amazing ...

Our time in Tunis (the capital city) included the Bardo Museum, which contains an amazing collection of Roman artefacts, stunning mosaics and amazing ceilings, plus time spent exploring the medina ...
The trip was made all the better for meeting Fiona & Mark, who let me hang out with them for the day, and our guide whose knowledge was endless. |
My third and final trip was to El Djem in the town of Mahdia. The amphitheatre was built in the 3rd century AD and was used in the Monty Python film 'Life of Brian' and also in the more recent film 'Gladiator'.
I spent my day at El Djem with Amie from Oxford, who was also holiday-ing by herself.
Here are my last few pics ...
The End |
