Thought for the week ...

Rochester Trip & Quiz Trail

Ten of us from Medway, plus several from Greenwich, enjoyed a day in Rochester yesterday.  Between rain showers, several had an attempt at the quiz trail.  WELL DONE to the Sri Lankan boys, the only ones to fully complete the trail 😀🏆🏆

"It was a day of discovery, delight and fellowship. I explored the rich history and culture of Rochester, from its majestic Cathedral (founded AD604) and castle to its charming museums and early Christmas market. I learned new facts, solved puzzles, and enjoyed the company of fellow colleagues at UoG and travelling by train Thanks to Lynne and Kirsten for organising this wonderful trip. It was amemorable experience that I will cherish for a long time."  Julius

Amika said it was a "wonderful experience".

Sukant said the day was full of ... "Historic artifacts, castles, church, remembrance of Royal Engineers engraved in the cathedral and other engravings."

"A fun experience with the excitement of the quiz trail! A little drizzle was going on throughout the day but it  didn't really disturb us from getting to the end of the trail. Plus, ultimately we visited almost all the sites of historic Rochester. Thank you, Miss Lynne, for organising such a wonderful trip. Looking forward to the Canterbury trip as well."  Sunera

Chaplaincy Chill 'n' Chat

Chill 'n' Chat pop-ups in the Drill Hall Library are one of my favourite things.  Our inspirational bookmarks are always popular.

Last week, I also had a table full of students wanting to take a break from their studies and just colour for a while.  Such a simple activity, but I lost track of the number of students who made comments about how relaxing and therapeutic it was.

Bargain Corner update

At the start of each academic year we are able to fully display our Bargain Corner in Pilkington building, for which we are extremely grateful.  Not only does this introduce new students to the service of the Bargain Corner and to Chaplaincy itself; it is often, also, a nudge to both students and staff that we take donations all year round 😀

Within our first three weeks of the academic year,
we sold 1,728 through our Bargain Corner.
Serving students and preventing stuff going to landfill.

Reality is this intense start to the new year would not be possible without a small army of volunteers, who generously give of their time and energy in serving people.  I would like to say A VERY HUGE THANK YOU to Adenike, Arun, Denise, Frank, Himadri. Kalhari, Neha, Nirmal, Nonso, Pauline and Zhi Yi.  Especially to those who helped keep the Bargain Corner functioning when I was off sick💖

A super special thank you goes to Adenike who spent several hours completely re-arranging my books in to alphabetical order (by surname). It all looks so nicely presented now and I'm trying my best to keep it that way.
The money we raise through the Bargain Corner goes towards subsidising Chaplaincy activities. So, be on the lookout for our Rochester trip and Quiz Trail at the end of October and our Canterbury trip late November.

NOTE:
We hope to run a Winter Clothing sales in the last week of October, so watch for further details.
