Remembrance Sunday is the second Sunday in November and is a day for the nation to remember and honour those who have sacrificed themselves to secure and protect our freedom.
November 11th itself marks Armistice Day, remembering the end of the hostilities of the First World War at 11am, November 11th 1918.
As a university campus, with a military history this is a significant day; one in which we especially remember the 130 men who lost their lives in the Drill Hall on September 3rd, 1917.
At this time, let us remember also,
all those places around our world
where peace does not reign and
where many innocent men,
women and children
fall victim to violence.
Let us pause and pray for peace in
Israel and Palestine.
the Ukraine and Russia,
Yemen,
Iran,
Ethiopia,
Myanmar,
Afghanistan,
Sudan,
Syria,
Nigeria
and others.
