Armed Forces Day

In all the years I have lived in Medway, this was the first time that I've attended the annual Armed Forces Day.  Rather than being held on the Great Lines, this year the event took place within the Historic Dockyard, which is such a great setting.  It was a pleasure to go with friends and students and enjoy this great day out.

The event began with a parade and a service of remembrance. Then it was time to explore all that the event and the Dockyard itself had to offer.

I think the RNLI museum area was a big hit with everyone. The students were amazed to hear about the work of this amazing charity; especially that it is run almost entirely by volunteers.

The Historic Dockyard was such an excellent location for this event, and the general ambience and history of the place proved to be just perfect.

Does anyone know what this is??
No, it's not a giant mangle, nor is is the world's largest laminator.

It is, in fact, a plate-bending roller built in 1913.
The set of three 42ft (12.8m) long rollers were used to
bend metal plates up to 1.5" (37.5mm) thick.
