The May Day Sweeps Festival recreates some of the fun the chimney sweeps had on their annual May 1st holiday - one day when they could leave behind the soot and dirt of their daily work and enjoy some music and dancing. This three day annual festival in Rochester is a colourful mix of music, dancing and entertainment.
