New Student Hub

Here at the Medway campus, what was once the swimming pool and a bowling alley in the days of this being a Naval base, is in the process of a major re-furbishment to become a new 'all singing, all dancing' Student Hub.  
Due to open in September this year, Mark, Frank and I got to join a tour yesterday to see the work in progress and hear more about the vision for it's use.

Accessed through main doors, this area will
become the GK Union reception and Offices.

This is the current view once you are through the main door.
Reception to the left, student open space to the right.

Open space. A mezzanine floor is being added
which will be a student activities space

This balcony will likely house AV equipment
(i.e. projectors and music / DJ equipment)

The arches / recesses are likely to have
sofas and digital screens in place.

 They are trying to keep as much or the original features and architecture in place. This means the tiles and exposed brick are going to be cleaned up (rather than replaced).
