Survival of the Fittest

Great to see a good number of students out at TABLEtalk last night. A BIG WELCOME to those who were there just for the first or second time.

After a rather manic survival exercise, which proved to be a challenge on the listening front  ...  the longer term students presented their TOP TIPS for Survival to those who are new to Medway. In no particular order, here is all that advice  ...

1. Attend all lectures and prepare well for exams
2. Get to know your personal tutor, they are here to help
3. Don't sign any contract without getting it checked
4. Register with a GP and get a bank account
5. Take advantage of student discounts - railcard, NUS card, etc
6. Make friends and get out to social activities - TABLEtalk, World Cafe, etc
7. Socialise but choose your friends well
8. Get a part-time job, not just for the money, but for the experience and to add to your CV
9. Don't expect to find home here.
10. Explore new cultures
11. Learn to cook, don't rely on fast foods
12. Take care of yourself - get enough food, sleep, rest, etc.
13. If you don't know - ASK - there are lots of people around to help you.
14. Work hard - play hard!
15. Build your self-confidence
16. Learn to manage your time well.
17. Stay safe! Have emergency contact numbers in your phone
18. Don't let the British weather stop you from getting out and experiencing new things
